Today was Ali’s last day in Our Lady’s National School. Best of luck in Saudi Arabia Ali and all the family!
We arranged a whole school schedule for each class for the week. On top of these extra activities, we were lucky enough to have special guests in to teach us new and exciting sports including laser tag run, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, a Sports Inclusion Officer and many more! Lucky us!
Ms Leacy’s class particpated in Sports Inclusion activities during Active Schools Week. We teamed up with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Council and asked the Sports Inclusion Officer, Brian, to make a visit during the week.
We learned lots of great ideas to make sure all children are included and as active as possible.
This year the Knitting Exhibition will take place on Tuesday 9th May for those from 2nd – 6th Class in the SchoolKitchen. The display times are as follows: Ms Regan’s Class will be viewing at 11:00am, Ms Friel’s 1st and 2nd Class at 11:10am, Junior Infant Classes at 11:20am, Ms O’Loughlins Class at 11:30am, Senior Infant Classes at 11:40am, Ms O’Neills Class at 11:50am, Ms Leacy’s Class at 12:00am and Mr Heneghan’s Class at 12:10. These are the times that the individual classes will be viewing with their teachers all the beautiful creations that the pupils from 2nd – 6th Class have knitted this year. Parents are welcome at anytime during the times above (11:00 -12:10).
We also ran a mile and enjoyed trying circuits.
We had great fun last Friday on our Sports Day. it was a perfect end to Active School Week.
Ms Leacy’s class enjoyed practicing their yoga moves.
The children thoroughly enjoyed a session of Jiu Jitsu in school during Active Schools Week. Two members of a local Jiu Jitsu club taught the children some basics of the movement and manouevering in this highly skilled form of exercise.
Sports Day took place this year at the end of a highly active week in school.
We walked to Mulvey Park from the school and enjoyed getting out into our local surroundings.
It was great to see so many parents and grandparents supporting the boys and girls on the annual sports day.
Everyone did their best and enjoyed running in the sprint, rás ubh agus spúnóg and the sack race as well as supporting their friends in their races.
The children really embodied the Olympic Spirit on the day, that is it’s the taking part that counts 🙂
Jack McGrath was kind enough to visit to school to help us raise our fifth green flag. We sang and danced and he signed some autographs. The flag was for Biodiversity.

Dear Parents / Guardians,
We are starting swimming lessons for Ms Friel’s First & Second Class from Friday 5th May.
They will take place in Energia, Nutgrove every Friday from 1 –2pm. The group will attend lessons for 4 weeks.
The cost of the lessons is €30.00 per child. Most of the cost of the bus will be subsidised by the school. The swimming lessons will cover P.E. for these four weeks; therefore the children should wear their tracksuits on
The children will be divided into graded groups – beginners and intermediate / advanced. Each group will have a qualified instructor.
Each child must have swimming costume (one piece girls), goggles, swimming hat and towel.
We are very pleased to be able to offer swimming lessons to our pupils. We hope it will be an enjoyable and beneficial activity.
Brian and Ciarán from Gracie Barra Dundrum came in for the day and taught us some fun Brazilian Jiu Jitsu moves. We had great fun!!

First – Sixth Class. Due to a high level of interest expressed Yveline Fedal will now be teaching two french classes for 1st -6th Class per week. The classes will be taking place on Thursday and Friday from 2:40pm – 3:40pm. The classes are now full. A text will be sent to all parents who returned forms before Easter holidays to confirm day of lessons. The cost of the term is €65.00 and can be paid to Yveline after class. If you are collecting your child, please collect at main door entrance.
After School Music Lessons (Monday): This term Tin Whistle lessons will be from 8th May to 29th May. Cost is €8.00 for the full term.
