SportLearning to enjoy a healthy lifestyle
Supporting Sporting Success
In an age of growing awareness of life-style related illnesses physical education in schools can play an important role in our children’s futures. At Our Lady’s we place a great emphasis on on physical activity as part of the curriculum and are proud of out achievements in this regard – we soon hope to attain our Active School Flag to go along with our Green Flags.
Careful management of limited resources allows the school to:
- enable all young people, whatever their circumstances or ability, to take part in and enjoy PE, sport and physical activity
- promote young people’s health, safety and well being
- enable all young people to improve and achieve in line with their age and potential
- enable all children to develop physical literacy – these are people who have developed for themselves a language of physical movement. They know how and why to move in a variety of ways, appreciate the importance of physical activity, and choose to regularly participate in physical activity
Following the Primary School Sports Initiative the school engages in five strand units of the physical education curriculum: Athletics, Dance, Games, Gymnastics and Outdoor and Adventure Activities.
